The Manager, U.S. Benefits is responsible for the strategic oversight, governance, compliance, and communication of Galderma's U.S. benefit programs, with primary ownership of retirement programs, retiree benefits, benefit communications, and Galderma's recognition program. This role serves as subject matter expert for retirement plan fiduciary responsibilities and complex compliance matters, while ensuring employees and leaders clearly understand and engage with Galderma's benefits and recognition offerings. The role partners closely with the Director, U.S. Total Rewards, global Total Rewards colleagues, vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver compliant, scalable, and well-communicated programs.

Key Responsibilities

Retirement Plan Administration & Governance:

  • Own end-to-end administration and governance of the U.S. retirement programs, including the 401(k) plan.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including ERISA, IRS, and Department of Labor requirements.
  • Lead and oversee all retirement-related compliance activities, including:
    • Annual non-discrimination testing
    • 401(k) Plan audits
    • Form 5500 filings
  • Coordinate Retirement Plan Committee governance, including meeting cadence, agendas, materials, documentation, and fiduciary records.
  • Prepare reporting, analysis, and recommendations to support informed fiduciary decision making.
  • Act as the primary liaison with recordkeepers, auditors, legal counsel, and the benefits broker on all retirement matters.
  • Develop and deliver employee retirement education and communications, including plan features changes and savings strategies.

Retiree Benefits Administration:
  • Manage retiree benefit programs, including medical and ancillary plans.
  • Prepare and distribute retiree benefit packages and retirement-related communications.
  • Maintain and update retiree benefit program guide.
  • Handle retirement letters, retiree communications, and ongoing retiree inquiries in coordination with vendors and internal partners.

Benefits Communications & Employee Education:
  • Serve as primary owner of U.S. benefit communications.
  • Lead the strategy development and execution of benefits communications, including:
    • Annual benefits open enrollment communications and education
    • Program updates and regulatory notices
    • Retirement and retiree communications
    • Employee guides FAQs, presentations, webinars, and HR platform content
  • Ensure benefits communications are clear, compliant, and aligned with Galderma's Total Rewards philosophy.

Recognition Program:
  • Serve as a primary U.S. point of contact for the Galvanize recognition program.
  • Manage program governance, including regular reporting, analytics, and participation insights.
  • Partner with global Total Rewards and internal stakeholders to ensure consistent execution.
  • Lead education, promotion, and communications to drive employee and leader awareness, understanding, and engagement with the program.

Vendor Management, Risk & Continuous Improvement:
  • Manage relationships with the benefits broker, retirement plan provider, and recognition program vendor.
  • Monitor vendor performance service delivery and contractual adherence.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex or sensitive benefits retirement or recognition issues.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting retirement and benefit programs.
  • Identify risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and drive continuous improvement in governance, communication, and employee experience.
  • Partner with the Director, U.S. Total Rewards on benefit strategy, enhancements, and long-term planning.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources business or a related field preferred.
  • Six (6) to eight (8) years of progressive experience in U.S. benefits administration, with deep expertise in retirement programs.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and ADA.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting retirement plan committees and fiduciary governance.
  • Proven ability to translate complex benefits and retirement topics into clear, employee-friendly communications.
  • Experience managing recognition or engagement programs preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Experience managing relationships with benefit vendors, brokers, and service providers.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms (Workday preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar benefits designation preferred.

Position is commensurate with experience.

About the Compensation:

The base salary range for this role is determined based on several factors. These include but are not limited to job accountabilities; skill sets; experience and training; certifications; work location; competitive market rates and other business needs. At Galderma, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a unique combination of factors for each role. A reasonable estimate of the hiring range for this role is $120,000-$160,000.

In addition to base salary, we provide an opportunity to participate in an annual short-term incentive program that is based on corporate performance with a multiplier focused on individual performance.
