Job Summary

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Serves as a front-line member of Student Central, providing comprehensive customer service to students and families regarding financial aid, bursar services, registration, and general enrollment processes.
  • Assists students in navigating university systems related to financial aid, billing, and student records, directing them to appropriate campus resources when needed.
  • Supports daily operations of Student Central by responding to high-volume inquiries via in-person service, phone, and email.
  • Helps coordinate and support Student Central initiatives, including enrollment events, financial aid outreach, and student success programs
  • Maintains accurate student records and documentation in university systems while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and federal/state regulations
  • Collaborates with campus partners, including Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar, and academic advising, to ensure a seamless student service experience
  • Assists with student employment coordination within Student Central, including scheduling and providing guidance to student staff
  • Contributes to continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing student experience, operational efficiency, and service delivery within Student Central.
General Responsibilities
  • Assists with administrative needs related to the daily operations, planning, and implementation of various or multiple student services initiatives. Performs duties such as attending a front desk, answering phones and emails, and delivering messages and mail.
  • Serves as a liaison to campus partners for cross-departmental student services initiatives, providing information, securing space reservations, scheduling planning meetings, and providing necessary documentation.
  • Provides assistance to student participants, stakeholders, faculty, and/or staff; acts as a resource by analyzing information, providing documentation, and preparing reports. Accurately maintains electronic records and databases.
  • Provides directions, support, and information to student organization representatives and other visitors to the department.
  • Assists with daily scheduling, training, and gathering of student feedback. May prepare and disseminate handouts, presentations, or other materials.
  • May assist with ordering or creation of promotional materials for student organizations or departmental needs.
  • May provide guidance to other Student Services Coordinators.

Qualifications

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

EDUCATION

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
Preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years of experience in an office environment, higher education, or a related field.
Preferred
  • Experience working in higher education student services, particularly within areas such as financial aid, bursar operations, registration, or enrollment services.
  • Experience working in a one-stop student services or student support center environment
  • Experience using university systems such as PeopleSoft, CRM tools, or student information systems.
  • Experience assisting students with financial aid processes, billing inquiries, or enrollment procedures.

  • Comfort working with technology systems used in student services operations.
  • Ability to work effectively with first-generation students, a variety of populations, and nontraditional learners.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
