Role Summary
A senior-level Portfolio Specialist responsible for executing risk-based credit review activities within a financial institution's credit platform. This role involves leading examinations, conducting transaction and portfolio reviews, and managing issues to ensure the effectiveness of credit policies and procedures. The position collaborates closely with Credit Review Portfolio Managers and risk partners to assess credit quality and identify emerging risks across diverse portfolios, including counterparty credit risk and structured financing transactions on a global scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in credit examination activities as Examiner-in-Charge (EIC), Assistant Examiner-in-Charge (AEIC), or Examiner to evaluate credit processes and decision-making quality.
- Perform transactional testing of credit execution for both new and existing clients, providing actionable feedback.
- Conduct secondary reviews of transactional testing completed by other examiners to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage and coordinate field work capacity to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality credit reviews.
- Develop and maintain well-organized work papers in accordance with Credit Review standards and best practices.
- Assist in preparing quarterly Business Assessment Reports and Coverage Plans alongside Portfolio Managers.
- Track, document, and follow up on observations and issues identified during examinations and testing, ensuring timely resolution and validation.
- Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with risk and regulatory partners to facilitate communication on emerging issues and risks.
- Provide updates and respond to inquiries from regulators and external auditors concerning credit review findings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by participating in or leading complex projects related to credit review processes.
Qualifications - 8-10 years of commercial credit experience, encompassing lending, underwriting, risk management, or credit review.
- Strong understanding of counterparty credit risk concepts, including limits framework, exposure metrics, margin practices, stress testing, and trading agreements such as ISDA/CSA.
- Proven ability to support conclusions with fact-based analysis and influence senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, and coaching skills, with experience mentoring junior team members.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with risk management, lending operations, or regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in data analysis and manipulation, with experience in Excel and AI tools preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple complex tasks while maintaining high-quality outputs.
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related business discipline.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Publishing Pay Range: $150,000.00 - $165,000.00 Annually
- This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
