Description and Requirements

Job Description

GT&T • Apps & Experiences • Enterprise Experiences

Location: Open to all US Slalom office locations

Who You'll Work With
Slalom's Global Technology & Transformation (GT&T) group builds the internal platforms and tools that power how Slalom operates - from how we staff and deliver engagements to how our consultants find knowledge, collaborate, and grow. Within GT&T's Apps & Experiences group, the Enterprise Experiences (EE) domain owns two of Slalom's most business-critical journeys: Delivering Work and Finding & Knowing Things.

As Senior Technical Architect, you'll be the engineering leader for Enterprise Experiences - owning the technical direction of the business@slalom platform and providing architectural leadership across both EE pods. The engineers you lead build products used by Slalom's consultants every day. You'll work closely with EE's product owners and solutions architects, partner deeply with Slalom's Technology Enablement team, and collaborate with delivery excellence and adjacent domain teams to ensure our platforms are coherent, scalable, and AI-native from the ground up.

Mission
As Senior Technical Architect, you will set the technical direction for Enterprise Experiences, lead a team of engineers, and steward the architecture of the business@slalom platform - Slalom's primary internal surface for how work gets done. You'll operate at the intersection of platform strategy and hands-on engineering, making meaningful architectural decisions while staying close enough to the code to lead by example.

We're building AI-native products for a consulting firm of over 9,000 people, and we want an architect who is as excited about that product mission as they are about the craft.

What You'll DoSet and Own the Technical Direction for business@slalom

  • Define and evolve the platform architecture for business@slalom - Slalom's internal web platform - including how EE's delivery and platform pods build on it, integrate with it, and extend it over time.
  • Make foundational decisions on API design, data architecture, front-end patterns, infrastructure, and AI integration that shape what the platform can do for the next two to three years.
  • Lead the convergence conversation between business@slalom and adjacent internal tooling, with a practical near-term planning horizon.
Lead and Grow the EE Engineering Team
  • Manage a team of architects and software engineers across both EE pods - owning hiring, career development, performance, and technical growth.
  • Build a high-trust engineering culture that takes quality seriously, moves with urgency, and pairs rigorously with AI tools.
  • Grow engineers into platform and product thinking, not just feature delivery.
Drive AI-Accelerated Engineering Practices
  • Embed AI-first development practices into the EE engineering workflow - from agentic IDEs and code-review tooling to context engineering and evaluation harnesses.
  • Align EE's engineering approach to GT&T's evolving AI-Enabled PDLC and shared AI infrastructure, collaborating with Slalom's Technology Enablement team on shared patterns and platform convergence.
  • Be a practitioner, not just an advocate: you use these tools daily and can demo, teach, and evolve how the team works.
Provide Technical Oversight Across EE's Product Portfolio
  • Hold the architecture across Engagement Tracker, Connexus, Taxonomy, Summit, and Slalom Chat integrations, and the business@slalom platform - ensuring these products are coherent, well-integrated, and built to last.
  • Partner with pod-level solutions architects to make technical decisions that are fast, defensible, and consistent with the broader Apps & Experiences technical strategy.
  • Partner with pod-engineering teams to ensure reliability and stability of the business@slalom platform and its products.
  • Represent EE's technical perspective in cross-domain architecture discussions with Apps & Experiences and GT&T leadership.
Stay Hands-On
  • Prototype, spike, and review code when it matters. Own critical architectural decisions by being close enough to the codebase to make informed calls.
  • Set code quality standards, run technical reviews, and model the engineering practices you want the team to adopt.

What You'll BringEngineering Experience
Significant hands-on software engineering experience (typically 10+ years), with demonstrated leadership in platform or system architecture (5+ years). You index on innovation, adaptability, and evolving teams and products toward the future of work.
People Leadership
Proven experience leading software engineers and architects - including hiring, mentoring, team shaping, performance management, and building team culture. You know what a high-functioning engineering team looks like and how to build one.
Platform Architecture Depth
Strong fluency in modern platform architecture: API design, event-driven systems, microservices, reliability patterns, security, and scalability. Experience building or stewarding internal platforms - not just delivering project-based solutions - is a meaningful plus.
AI-Accelerated Development
Daily, fluent use of agentic IDEs and AI development tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or equivalent) as part of your actual workflow - not just familiarity. Experience guiding teams in AI-assisted development and context engineering strategies.
Full-Stack Technical Range
Proficiency across the platform stack, which is an AWS Serverless microservice platform: Vue on the front end; Node and TypeScript on the back end; CI/CD, IaC, and production observability as first-class concerns.
Product and Platform Mindset
You think in systems and user outcomes, not just tickets. You can engage with product anchors and business stakeholders as a peer - translating technical constraints and possibilities into decisions that move the product forward.
Communication and Influence
Ability to articulate technical direction clearly to engineers, product leaders, and business stakeholders. Comfortable presenting to senior leadership and holding your point of view with data and humility.

Bonus Skills
  • Experience with AI orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), RAG patterns, or model routing.
  • Background in internal platforms, developer experience, or enterprise tooling - distinct from client-facing delivery.
  • Familiarity with Slalom's internal ecosystem (Engagement Tracker, business@slalom, Summit methodology, Slalom Chat) or a strong appetite to learn it quickly.
  • MLOps, AI governance, or responsible AI practices.
