Description

The Welbilt Customer Experience Center (WEC) in Coppell, Texas - is seeking a talented and driven Sous Chef to support the Executive Sous Chef and Executive Chef in leading all culinary operations within our dynamic facility. This role is essential to maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service. The Sous Chef will assist in guiding kitchen staff with professionalism and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance environment.

With responsibilities ranging from executing fine-dining dinners to coordinating high-profile events for our brands and customers, this position demands creativity, precision, and a passion for culinary excellence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Culinary Execution & Support

  • Assist the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef in preparing and executing menus for fine-dining experiences, culinary demonstrations, and customer events.
  • Ensure food quality, presentation, and timing meet Welbilt's brand standards and exceed customer expectations.
  • Contribute ideas to menu development and culinary innovation aligned with brand goals.
Team Collaboration
  • Support coordination and training of temporary back-of-house (BOH) staff.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, professionalism, culinary excellence and respectful kitchen environment
Event Support
  • Support the planning and execution of culinary components for VIP visits, customer/dealer events, and internal functions.
  • Collaborate with internal brand teams to help deliver customized culinary experiences that showcase Welbilt's equipment and capabilities.
Inventory & Ordering
  • Assist Executive Sous Chef with inventory control and ordering for the restaurant, 1963 Club, and vignettes.
  • Support BOH Manager with ensuring supplies are stocked, organized, and in excellent condition.
Sanitation & Compliance
  • Ensure sanitation systems are in place and compliant with local and state health regulations.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization to meet health and safety standards.
  • Enforce proper food handling, storage and cleanliness standards.
Facility & Equipment Support
  • Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment and supplies and ensuring readiness for demonstrations and events.
  • Support equipment trials and product testing, providing feedback as needed.
Administrative Support
  • Assist in tracking culinary-related expenses and monitoring food and supply usage.


Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • Associate's degree in culinary arts or relevant field or CEC certification is preferred.
  • High school diploma is required.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of culinary experience in restaurant, catering, or commercial kitchen environments. Will consider 6+ years of relevant culinary experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with wide-range of commercial foodservice equipment is highly desirable.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Skilled in adapting recipes and techniques to various commercial kitchen equipment applications; including modern technology systems is preferred.
  • Customer service oriented and calm and effective under pressure.
  • Solid knowledge of culinary techniques and food presentation.
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen operations and equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to assist in live cooking demonstrations and equipment presentations.
  • Strong sense of urgency and high attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
  • Ability to align with Company core values.

Working Conditions:
  • Work schedule will be Monday through Friday. Must be able to work flexible hours and scheduling, as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% domestically, with a valid driver's license.
  • Fast paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, humidity and noise.
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time in an office environment, event areas or commercial kitchen. Must be able to lift/move up to 40 lbs.
