What to Expect

The Sr. Dealer Financial Review & Examination Manager is responsible for providing independent financial review and credit risk oversight for commercial loan borrowers. This role evaluates borrower's cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and overall financial condition by traveling to borrower places of business to perform onsite reviews of books, records, bank accounts, and supporting documentation. This role will support loan originations and existing credit relationships through independent financial validation, high-risk borrower analysis, and credit grading support. In addition, this role will provide analytical support for criticized assets, special situations, and workout related financial assessments, while remaining independent of underwriting and credit approval decisions.

What You Will Do

1. Commercial Borrower Financial Review and Reporting

• Conduct independent, on-site financial reviews at places of business for both existing and prospective commercial borrowers.

• Review borrower books, records, accounting systems, and financial documentation for accuracy, completeness, and reliability.

• Engage borrower management, accounting staff, and third-party professionals to understand financial practices, cash management processes, and internal controls.

• Review borrower bank accounts and monthly bank statements.

• Analyze bank reconciliations to identify:

o In-transit deposits and payments

o Outstanding or stale reconciling items

o Overdrafts, negative balances, or liquidity stress

• Reconcile cash balances to determine the borrower's true available cash position.

• Identify trends or anomalies in cash activity that may indicate cash flow deterioration or operational stress

• Perform in depth analysis of borrower balance sheets, trial balances, general ledgers, supporting schedules and income statements.

• Validate income statement and balance sheet integrity and identify unsupported balances, misclassifications, or inaccuracies.

• Recommend balance sheet adjustments as necessary, including:

o Aging and collectability of accounts receivable

o Unsupported or overstated intangible assets

o Proper classification of short term versus long term assets and liabilities

o Adjustments to equity and net worth

o Calculate adjusted working capital needs of the business after all cash and balance sheet adjustments

• Review vendor statements and accounts payable records to determine whether the borrower is behind on trade obligations.

• Review federal, state, and local tax filings and payment histories to confirm tax compliance and identify delinquent obligations.

• Assess the impact of unpaid obligations on borrower liquidity, cash flow, and repayment capacity.

• Perform independent financial reviews and due diligence for new loan originations, renewals, and material credit modifications, as requested by Commercial Risk.

• Validate borrower financial information relied upon during underwriting, including:

o Cash balances and liquidity position, working capital adequacy, balance sheet accuracy and classifications

• Identify financial weaknesses, inconsistencies, or risks that may impact proposed credit exposure.

• Provide objective financial findings to inform underwriting and approval discussions without assuming underwriting or approval authority

• Prepare comprehensive written field credit review reports documenting:

o Scope of review, financial findings and adjustments, cash flow and liquidity assessment, working capital analysis, credit risk implications

• Escalate material findings, emerging risks, or control weaknesses through Commercial Risk governance channels.

• Deliver documentation suitable for Senior management review, credit risk committees, internal audit, regulatory examinations

• Serve as a subject matter expert in borrower financial analysis, cash reconciliation, and working capital assessment.

• Assist in developing and refining credit review and field examination methodologies.

• Share and transfer knowledge to first line of defense regarding dealer financial reviews.

• Participate in portfolio level risk initiatives, special reviews, or regulatory remediation efforts

2. High-Risk Portfolio Analysis & Monitoring

• Conduct periodic monitoring of portfolio risk trends and risk concentrations:

o Emerging repayment risk

o Liquidity shortfalls

o Deterioration in working capital or cash flow

• Provide independent analysis and documentation to support:

o Risk grade migration

o Watch list or criticized asset designation

3. High-Risk Account Support

• Provide independent analytical support related to loan defaults, workouts, and restructuring efforts, while maintaining Second Line independence.

• Assist Commercial Risk and Commercial Credit with:

o Financial analysis of non-performing or defaulted borrowers

o Assessment of borrower liquidity, collateral coverage, and repayment alternatives

o Evaluation of restructuring or workout scenarios from a financial risk perspective

• Identify and document financial factors contributing to borrower distress or default.

• Assist in evaluating the adequacy and financial condition of lender collateral.

Qualifications

What You Will Bring

• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in field-based borrower financial review plus one or more in the following areas:

o Dealer or financial services industry

o Commercial credit review or loan review

o Credit risk management

o Forensic or investigative accounting (commercial focus)

o Commercial banking or public accounting with middle market clients

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• CPA, CFE, CFA, or equivalent professional designation (preferred).

• Ability to travel and operate independently in field-based assignments is essential

• Advanced knowledge of:

o Bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis

o General ledger and trial balance review

o Commercial borrower financial statements

o Working capital and liquidity analysis

• Strong understanding of:

o Credit risk grading frameworks

o Regulatory expectations for independent loan review

• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills required

• Exceptional attention to detail and quality.

• Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate with cross functional departments and with customers.

• Strong orientation toward results coupled with reputation for integrity, creativity and good judgment

• Strong professional skepticism and independent risk judgment

• Comfort interacting with borrower management and senior leadership

• Deep understanding of regulatory, governance, and credit risk expectations

• The role involves frequent on-site borrower visits across Hyundai Capital America's national commercial footprint, including:

o Multi day field reviews

o Short notice travel for high risk, time sensitive, or origination related review

Work Environment

Employees in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is performed in an at home and office environment.

The posted salary range for this job takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. Successful candidates may be hired anywhere in the salary range based on these factors. It is uncommon to hire candidates at or near the top of the range.
