Job Summary
- Report directly to the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
- Support coaching operations.
- Contribute to a variety of aspects of the assigned sport, including contacting prospective student-athletes, coordinating and hosting campus visits for recruits, and assisting with coaching and supervision during practices and matches.
- Recruit student-athletes.
- Proactively identify and recruit quality student-athletes by calling, emailing and visiting Coaches, Athletic Directors, and prospective student-athletes. Attend events and promote IU East as an exceptional academic and athletic opportunity.
- Provide coaching and supervision.
- Assist with practice planning, skill instruction, and game-day operations. May be responsible for specific coaching areas or general team support as determined by the Head Coach.
- Provide cross-team support.
- Serve as a resource for other Athletic programs as needed. This may include temporary assistance or supervision at practices or matches, as requested by the Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director.
- Provide departmental assistance.
- Support additional Athletic department operations and initiatives as assigned to help advance the success of the department and its student-athletes.
QualificationsEDUCATION
RequiredWORK EXPERIENCE
Required- 1 year of coaching soccer or collegiate playing experience
Preferred
- College playing experience
- Goalkeeping experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
- Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University
- Certification in basic first aid
Preferred- American Heart Instructor Certification in CPR
SKILLS
Required
- A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and a working knowledge of the NAIA rules and regulations
- Proficient communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations of the university, the River State Conference, and the NAIA
- Ability to recruit, coach, and teach highly talented student-athletes
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
Working Conditions / DemandsAll duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of affiliated national, regional, and state intercollegiate athletic associations, the NAIA and the University. The Assistant Coach will not engage in any outside activities in television, radio, clothing or shoe sponsorship, internet, or camps, unless those activities are expressly approved in writing and in advance by the Athletic Director.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
